Inspiration (NETS I, III)

This is a Mind-Map of the NETs that I feel I am completing in this course. It includes graphics for each thing, and also a hyperlink to the ISTE web page. I could use this to show to potential employers to show that I have completed these requirements and that I can do these things with my students as I myself have already done them.

Journal 1 - "e-Learning Programs come in all shapes and sizes."

Coyle, S., Jones, T., & Pickle, S.K. (2009). E-learning programs come in all shapes and sizes. Learning and Leading with Technology, 37. Retrieved from http://www.iste.org/Content/NavigationMenu/Publications/LL/LLIssues/Volume3720092010/SeptemberOctoberNo2/e_Learning_Programs_Come_in_All_Shapes_a.htm

The first part of this article talks about the ways in which the teachers, who were previously struggling to teach the students and the school district as a whole, being able to get a teacher into the school in the first place, had been combated with the use of technology and also how the children were now doing better in school, and also how they could have specialist teachers teaching them the subjects.

The second part of the article discusses how on-line courses are enabling more students in Baltimore to take classes and to take a wider variety of classes than before meaning that they have the opportunity to take more classes and to take classes that they would otherwise been unable to take.

The third part of the article is about how the schools have used technology to help those students who would not have had access to a high quality of education, to have a high quality of education, in doing this it has helped students to develop and to have a better education that would not have been available to them otherwise.

In the learning time, does losing face time with the teachers affect the students learning?
All the articles say that the students do not lose anything from this way of teaching, which I thought they would, but in fact it means that the students are able to do things and access courses that they would not be able to do if the teaching had not occurred in this way. So the lose of face to face time does not seem to affect the students learning.

Would this way of teaching help other teachers in anyway, or could the help the teaching of students in less fortunate countries, like Africa?
The way in which the teachers use all their resources on-line, would mean that they could use the information and they could also provide teachers with access to the lessons as well, and also to all the resources that they would need to teach the students and then students all over would benefit. Also if this is working in America, then there is also a chance that it could work in other areas of the world, and as finding teachers to go to places like Africa to teach is hard, but if aid workers or other people who are already out there, could have access to these classes on DVD or another way then they could also use these classes and lessons to teach the students in Africa and they would therefore also benefit from an even better start to their education.

My PowerPoint Presentation (NETS II, III)

This PowerPoint Presentation shows how I can incorporate the children learning the NETS that they need to learn into the classroom and also how I can use different types of technology to help all students and to adapt my teaching to help those students who may struggle with other aspects.

Collaborative PowerPoint Rubric (NETS III)

This is a collaborative project which we did in small groups which we would be able to use in the classroom to grade powerpoint presentations. We could give these to the students to grade peers or they can create them individually so they know exactly what is required from them in the class.
